TMC Hospital Hill has the busiest adult emergency room in the Kansas City metropolitan area with more than 60,000 visits a year. It is located in Downtown Kansas City, Missouri across from Children's Mercy Hospital. It is directly connected with UMKC school of medicine and provides training base for its six-year and four-year medical programs. Students from UMKC school of medicine rotate a total of six months in TMC for their internal medicine rotation, and begins their responsibility in out-patient clinics starting the third year of their training, which is continued to graduation under the supervision of an attending physician. TMC consists of 194 beds, equipped with diverse fields of services (ER, internal medicine, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery, ENT, ophthomology, cardiology, infectious disease, radiology, GI, behavioral health, dermatology, pulmonary clinic, primary care clinics, physical therapy, occupational health, obstetrics and gynecology), as well as a 24/7 translator service. It is located right across from Children's Mercy Hospital and is connected via a skybridge, having access for pediatric transfers when necessary.
