Time in Kansas is divided into two time zones. The Central Time Zone contains 101 of the states 105 counties. Only four counties do not fall into the Central Time Zone, rather the Mountain Time Zone. The four counties are Sherman, Wallace, Greeley, and Hamilton, all of which border Colorado. Until 1990, the western half of Kearny County was also on Mountain time.
Cheyenne County creates a unique situation where one can cross into the Mountain Time Zone from three ends of the county. The exception is Rawlins County, which borders Cheyenne County to the east.
